At home in Dobson Ranch with The Salsky Family

Andy and Emily Salsky moved to Dobson Ranch not only to increase the size of their home, but to upgrade their entire lifestyle. They love the easy access to their church, as well as their favorite restaurants and shopping spots – and it doesn’t hurt that the kids happened to have fallen in love as well.

“Everywhere you look, families are interacting. It doesn’t feel like 2017!”

When asked why Andy and Emily Salsky chose Dobson Ranch to be their new home, their response said it all.

“It feels so safe here. You can tell there is more pride in ownership. Not just because of the HOA, but because people in this neighborhood WANT to be in this neighborhood. They care for their homes, their lawns, they ride bikes with their kids. It’s not a hodgepodge like other neighborhoods – it’s a true family-based community.”

Dobson Ranch has seen explosive growth over the past few years due to exactly this. Younger families are drawn to the senses of security and pride-of-ownership that define these streets. We were invited into the Salsky’s gorgeous home to discuss what makes Dobson Ranch unique and what makes its residents fall in love. We were enamored with their adorable decor and and their three (extremely well-behaved) children. From proximity to church and various eateries to low crime rates and safety, the Salsky’s had a lot to say. Let’s take a dive.

The Lifestyle

“It’s not just a hodgepodge of homes – it’s a family neighborhood.“

Dobson Ranch is truly the perfect blend of quiet, family neighborhood meets adventurous lifestyle. Among it’s grounds are approximately 65 acres of common area. Homeowners and residents here enjoy more than a dozen different tennis courts, four swimming pools, seven man-made lakes, three recreation centers, and, in between it all, miles upon miles of endless lakeside pathways, perfect for morning walks or evening jogs. What’s more, Dobson Ranch is home to a municipal, par-72, 18-hole championship championship golf course, featuring endless, mature trees abound and large greens. Its layout finds the ideal balance between challenging and just plain fun along its 6,712 yards of tree-lined fairways. The lighted driving range and practice facility, and PGA golf instruction adds to the reasons why golfers choose and appreciate Dobson Ranch Golf Course. Of course, this all ignores the easy access to endless amenities, which we’ll discuss below under “The Play”.

The Schools

“Mesa has some of the best private, Christian schools.”

Mesa is known throughout Arizona for having some of the best private and charter elementary and high school options for kids of all ages, needs, and specialties, and a majority of working professionals in Mesa and Dobson Ranch tend to select this route for the children’s education. Prominent and successful options include ASU Preparatory Polytechnic, BASIS Mesa, and Pathfinder Academy. This isn’t to say the public schools aren’t completely adequate – they perform at standard levels. But, in comparison to some of the more high performing areas of the valley (i.e. Scottsdale), the more private options tend to be more attractive.

The Work

An average commute time of 12 minutes.

A staggering 85% of Dobson Ranch residents commute to work daily – significantly more than many parts of the valley. A number of factors lend themselves to this statistic, but here’s the one that matters the most: Their average commute time is only 12 minutes. This is due to the overall location of the community. Its easy access to two of the most prominent freeways in Phoenix, as well as its centralized location within the East Valley, grant Dobson Ranch residents uniquely short commute times to all corners of the valley. Business hubs like Biltmore, Tempe, Chandler, and Downtown Phoenix are all roughly only 15 minutes away, meaning you can take a job anywhere. Additionally, Dobson Ranch is home to a record number of dual earners. In short, this is the perfect place to call home if you need easy access to business-centric areas, especially if you and your significant other work in separate directions.

The Play

“Cornish Pasty, La Famiglia – there are so many great spots!”

It’s no secret that Dobson Ranch caters to families, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an array of amenities nearby for your weekend escape from the kids. Common attractions include Mill Avenue, Tempe Beach Park, Chandler Fashion Center, and Old-Town Scottsdale. Overall, Dobson Ranch is centralized within the greater East Valley, meaning you’re just minutes from everything neighboring cities have to offer. This ease of navigation has created a housing boom, bringing in many young professionals and families who want to be close to the action while living in a quiet, family-friendly atmosphere.
